The REAPING : For My People
The Reaping for My People is a reclamation—a return to the dignity, strength, and power that were stripped from our ancestors but never truly lost. This series speaks to the inevitable cycle of sowing and reaping: the power that was buried has taken root in the youth, rising again through new generations with sharpened clarity and unshakable resolve.
In works such as Reborn, Resting Rebel, Tashi, Makidara, and The Elders, I honor those who came before us while bearing witness to the strength now embodied in those who walk in their wake. These paintings are both an ancestral call and a prophetic warning: what has been sown in pain will be reaped in power. To attempt to suppress or erase Black people in America is to sow a harvest that cannot be controlled.
This series is not only about resistance—it is about legacy, inevitability, and the rise of a people who remember who they are.
